1971 Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europa

After the Palace Revolt in 1961, Giotto Bizzarrini left Ferrari and eventually founded his own company in 1966, producing the 5300 Strada and the P538 sports racer. Aiming to create a more affordable sports car, Bizzarrini introduced the 1900 GT Europa in 1967.

Debuting at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the 1900 GT Europa was a smaller, more budget-friendly alternative to Bizzarrini’s flagship 5300 GT Strada, sharing its platform chassis layout. Designed by Pietro Vanni, the Europa featured a fiberglass body with a fastback profile, faired-in headlights, a panoramic windshield, multi-element side windows with upper panes following the roof contour, and a lift-up glass rear hatch.

Powered by a 1900-cc Opel engine producing 110 bhp, the Europa had its engine mounted amidship between the front axle and the driver. Weighing only 650 kg due to its fiberglass body, the car featured independent suspension, a limited-slip differential, and four-wheel disc brakes, making it a formidable contender. It is believed that only 12 units were built.
